Hmm. I suppose you're right. When GT posts about his job or something, I usually read the entire post, and all the replies. But when she posts about her day, I get annoyed. I guess I'm just an old, withered, biased member.

I think the difference is that GT (and most of the rest of us) worked himself up from a person who we just associated with through video games (and other 'trivial' interests) and built up a common rapport with us through that. The difference between him and jep's friend is that we've known him for years on different levels, and he's become more than a person who we joke around with. A lot of us have been through many incarnations of this site, and we keep coming back because we have a special bond... basically we've sifted out the people who couldn't hack it and we're left with the people who we're really interested in associating with. and it goes beyond this, especially with Donnie, because he's the one who financially backs this operation out of the goodness of his heart... if for no other reason, we owe it to someone like that to give him our moral support, on top of which he's a good friend to all of us in many other ways.

Now the girl in question never tried to make herself part of the group. Instead, she did exactly what many other people here posted about: she used TTT as her personal blog and pedestal. So not only was it boring, it was unnecessary and annoying. Back this up with jep's support for her membership during a period when jep was not the most welcome of members (remember, there was a time when (s)he was even more vilified than now!) and you can see why she didn't come off smelling like roses for a lot of us. But who knows... she could end up pulling a Jesse if she decides to reassess what this board and its members expect of people who post here. But isn't she in college or something? She's probably already too set in her ways by now... tsk

I've just been watching the last two days, and I have to say, I'm impressed with EVERY one of you guys's (new jerseyism) post.

If you're goal is to create THE PERFECT BOARD, you might want to lowwer your standards, but you've done amazingly so far in this latest TTT incarnation.

Jessenator, You are usually the first to learn from something someone else says when its true, and thats not often cuz usually your pretty good about being right the first time.

Johnny... you rool, and usually have something great to say but are far too quiet on the board.

TTB, you really have a lot to say but never seem to say enough.

Sharkz, you are the calmest person on this board, and usually add great bits to topics. TTT really missed you when you were gone... Wonko more then the rest of us oddly enough...

People over the past few days have been saying that this place has been going down hill, and I dont think it has, our numbers have snakes up and down and back up over the past 5-9 years but some of us have always been testtubers, we werent better back then, we were dumb, DUMB people, and we've all grown up, but we bickered back then, we scared people off, I remember when (right after he posted on the main page that the site was dead) bigs made his big "I'm leaving the board" post (and left no one in charge (like I offered to, rat bastard) to try and get it started again.) and then mine soon after. (for the record, I had no reason to leave other than the fact that I had no reason to stay. No ties whatsoever, you guys hated anyone who wasnt a hardcorp dexxer.)

My point is, this is always changing, and maybe we didnt as much, maybe we got a lil smarter, but even back then we were stuck in our ways. This place is what we make of it...

We can change it...

thats why i didnt stay away those years ago, cuz I helped make this place, any one of us can change it for the better or dash it all to pieces again, and we will again, trust me. Yea, we always remember where we were 5 years ago, but I think we all just need to remember where we are now.



(And if this place did become super popular, I dont think that would change us, we'd create a staff only forum and tear each other apart there. )

this is more or less the first time i've stumbled into this post. i kinda wish i hadn't but i did, and as drawn-out as it was i read it through.

okay. so here's what i have to say. i don't want to be hated, but honestly if i am it really dosen't matter. i'm kinda used to it.

i don't know if really any of you know what it's like to not have real friends simply beacuse you work too hard to have time for them. i don't know if you know what it's like to live the way i've lived my entire life, i'm young yes... i'll be 17 on the 21st. BUT i've lived through more shit than most of you have at whatever ages you are now. it's not easy, at all, to have to grow up too fast. at first i grew up fast because i had to catch up with my body, then my entire life got turned upside down by terrible parents. i know that sometimes i go off a little on personal life... but i don't really have anybody near me to do it to.

i've even considered some of you friends. i sent zach a fucking GBA SP and super mario brothers 3 for the secret santa thing, and what did i get from my secret santa? nothing. i'm not complaing about that, i'm just saying, i do care about quite a bit about alot of you.

i don't fully understand what some of you have against me... but whatever, if you have something to say, say it to me, screenname is teensupernothing, and i'm online a pretty decent amount.

i'm not going to europe until the 25th, btw. i'm still in school now.

i have no idea what else i can say.

1) I'm fine hearing about some parts of a person's life--if you had read my post, you'd understand that I know talking about offline experience is part of--but it shouldn't be the focus of 100% of their posts. Jesse said it perfectly: she treats TTB like her blog.
2) I'm the first one to admit that I was a sniveling brat, but that doesn't mean the last five years haven't changed me.

if you leave a message board ebcause someone annoys you then i have little respect and will not defend your actions. another message board i post on there was a particular member who would make personal attacks on members who were friends with the band and other members. he would post personal information about them, or just make fun of them. and he'd harrass them on AIM too. the worst thing he ever did is tell a friend of mine to just go ahead and kill himself after my friend actually posted that he was considering it.

what happened to him? he got banned, and no one left because of him. people tried arguing with him and he just kept at it until it got to the point that he needed to be banned. so if jep is such a huge fucking problem why hasn't he been banned yet? i don't think jep is nearly as bad as the person from the other board, not even close. if you guys really didn't want him here he'd be gone already.

and for the record, jep barely mentioned his gender thing, but as always a slight mention of it gets blown out of the water by everyone else.

Possibly because she reminds me of myself when I first started posting her--God forbid she e-marry anyone. But I do find her annoying on the forums. I don't doubt that she's alright on a chat program, and I'm sure that her personality isn't as large and meme offline. That isn't saying I would want to hang out with her, but I imagine I'd get to know her if she presented herself in a less "please think I'm interesting, oh please like me" way, and would get to like her. My disinterest in her is in no way attacking who she is, just who she is online.

I have sort of toughened up over the past year (I like to think it's the rancid, evil sperm of my ex-boyfriend slowly eating away at my heart), and in doing so, I guess I'm used to saying stuff like that while being facetious. In a way, I was being just that, tinged with the fact that she does get on my nerves. It's only the Internet, so I can't hate her, and wouldn't, but I can, and do, find her annoying.

Eh. I haven't done it in awhile--which is the truth, since I haven't posted in awhile. There was even a point, between when she first posted and now, where I toned things down and ignored her. But she is annoying, and there's no way she's going to listen to TTB or Cid, because Lord knows they post all the time.

No, I don't blame jep. I blame it on a lack of interest from forumers, and the fact that its main following has grown up and now has more important things to do. That, coupled with the subsequent vicious cycle, are what is strangling any original content out of the forums--though we never really had much of that to begin with, just a booming memberlist full of youthful chaps eager to spend hours online.

Look, yes, I can be harsh, and I have felt bad for a few of the things I've said. But you can't keep using that as a goddamned excuse.
