i know what we should do... erect import tariffs, place restrictions on capital flight, build export processing zones, and start printing those bumper stickers that say 'only assholes drive imports'. Oh, and shoot immigrants. All of them since 1492.

i say we all buy imports till the American car industry has to reform and the unions are broke down till the employees are at reasonable wages. then we stop jacking prices of US cars to compensate for the amount US workers are being over paid. during this process more Americans will have jobs considering "import" cars are being made in America. now that US workers aren't being over paid we stop building "American" cars in other countries, such as butt fucking Canada.
Now that more Americans have jobs at the cost of a lower wage per job. we move into building hybrid cars at a lower cost and slowing start severing the oil umbilical cord this country as been attached to for way too long. mean while we finish up our oil pipe from Alaska and call it a day. -vote robby '08 Last edited by heX : 04-27-2006 at 01:46 PM. |

And, no...alas, I've had my current job for..3 years 3 months. A couple of weeks ago I did work for a managing consultant with Presidio, and he was ready to hire me on the spot, told me he hired a guy who worked for Cox in 2000, and today dude makes 65k/yr as a JUNIOR tech..so yeah, we exchanged business cards and I'm going to get in touch with him after summer sometime, he told me he had patience, he saw my work ethic and that's all he needed to see apparently. Double my current income 5 years from now? Less stressful/physical job? Ding.

I'm in a fucked up situation for jobs. Getting toyed with by 3 different departments that I've busted my ass for... trying to get a full time, permanent position, and they've been stringing me a long for weeks.
THough, this is the best job market in 15 years .... I'm getting shit from it. |

I've been working with a girl with special needs for awhile now. This summer I plan on continuing work with her, as well as interning with a neuropsychologist or a rehabilitation center working with the blind (visual system is fascinating). While I finish up my language requirement over the summer at University, I'll be working in the same perception lab in which I currently work for academic credit.

yeah, not so fun situation....
boyfriend and i work(ed) at the same dry-cleaners... the business got sold from an awesome boss, who did everything amazingly and never messed up to these dumb as bricks koreans who mess everything up and can't speak enough english to ask for help. sean has been there for 6 freaking years, and they're cutting his pay, from $10/hr to $8.50/hr and his hours, from 60 hrs/wk, to like 35 basically forcing him to quit, and they were like "christine, you only need to come in on saturdays to do tailoring, 8-3, at... $5.25an hour." i was making $8 plus 50% of all the tailoring... now i'm not quite sure, but most tailors make way more than that, to begin with, and 5.25 is just rediculous... not to metion they can't get a weeks worth of tailoring done in a 7 hour shift... especially because i normally work 30ish hours a week, and still have to take some of it home needless to say, yesterday was my last day, and today is his last day. but then at vitamin shoppe, i'm looking at a promotion to asst. manager... and they're looking to hire new people. working blows. |

It's always been hard for me to get a job (tattoos, piercings, dreadlocks), but, I do find one every now and then. I've already got one lined up this summer working at a metal recycling yard, but the hours are rough, and it's 6 days a week. Hopefully I can make myself stick with it, because it'll be good money, and maybe I can finally buy a car.
But next semester, I have an internship lined up at a Software/Web development company, so I'm super psyched for that. |

I "lost" my job for about 2 months while still technically being hired. I was allowed to come back last friday and I'm definetely enjoying making money again.
