Audioscrobbler

Does anyone use this? It describes itself as "the social music revolution at Last.fm. It's fun, it's free, it's all about the music." And as a place where

You get your own online music profile that you can fill up with the music you like. This information is used to create a personal radio station and to find users who are similar to you. Last.fm can even play you new artists and songs you might like. It's addictive, it's growing, it's free, it's music.
It seems really useful for those hoping to broaden musical horizons, or to find people with whom to discuss music.

I just joined today as per the request of someone at another forum. I like it so far, but my only qualm is that you have had to use the media plug-in long enough--and listened to enough songs--to produce any sort of charts of what you listen to.

Check it out.

i found this site called pandora awhile ago that pretty much brings up any band you want to hear and plays a song and then lists similar bands, its a cool flash program that seems pretty in depth, but it's not free. though it gives you a few hours free with no obligation, so its worth trying when you want to know what a band is like.

wow... i think i used audioscrobbler about 3 years ago, and after i proved it's flaws (i.e. played Atom and His Package songs over and over, never ending, for about two weeks to get him all the way to #3 on the most popular bands list) i stopped using it.
